Distopia ceaușistă de la finalul anilor ’80: curtea de lumină a blocului de pe colțul Splaiului Unirii cu bulevardul Mircea-Vodă (fost segment din calea Văcărești), parte a reconfigurării totale a unei mari porțiuni din fostul cartier evreiesc bucureștean și a intersecției de la Timpuri Noi, cu tot cu pod și albia Dâmboviței. Blocul ăsta a fost finalizat după 1989 și menține atmosfera rece a unui proiect motivat ideologic.
With a solitary bird flying across this inner courtyard of a 1980s riverside communal living project near downtown Bucharest I was reminded instantly of that 1961 Twilight Zone episode, ‘Five Characters in Search of an Exit’. The cold, dystopian atmosphere of it all feels very heavy and depressing with that constant feeling of being watched and of the walls closing in. The total opposite of what tourists usually see in the city and I’m here for it
